The Graveyard of the Chateau D'If

Your awesome Tagline

We’ve got two more cons to go to this Fall, so I thought it was about time I did a summer con season license wrap up.

Vertical is currently working on a number of long-ish series -

  • Gundam the ORIGIN (currently at 6 of 12)
  • What Did You Eat Yesterday (currently at 5 of 9+)
  • Knights of Sidonia (currently at 10 of 13+)
  • Cardfight!! Vanguard (currently at 3 of 7+)

And we’ll be launching a few new series this Fall/Winter

  • Witchcraft Works (October 2014)
  • AJIN - demi-human - (October 2014)
  • Garden of Words (October 2014)
  • Prophecy (November 2014)
  • My Neighbor Seki (January 2015)

…so our manga side is kinda set for most of Spring 2015. So instead most of our new licenses are prose; with a new manga title and an art-book, as well.

From the top left:

  • Dream Fossil: The Complete Short Stories of Satoshi Kon
  • BioGenesis and other Stories by Tatsuaki Ishiguro
  • A Sky Longing for Memories: The Art of Makoto Shinkai
  • Eternal Zero a novel by Naoki Hyakuta
  • Nan-Core a novel by Mahokaru Numata

Expect to start seeing these next spring.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll be able to announce one or two more titles at either AWA or NYCC.

(Note: this is the version of A Sky Longing for Memories that Vertical will be publishing. The version that other websites have been posting is not the edition we will be covering. Our version is landscaped not vertical.)

$5 off at suncoast!!!

Man, I wonder who won the MD Geist Sweepstakes

Truefax, I ended up getting a job at Suncoast during the tail-end of their lifespan before the bankruptcy and buyout. Because I was the only one who knew about the stuff the crazy kids with cat-ears wanted, I was dubbed the Emissary of the Anime Section and was charged with staying and helping people there during holiday and Black Friday dates.

Highlights include having the ending of BUBBLEGUM CRISIS/CRASH spoiled by a guy who thought EVANGELION was an 80s show, having to tell people to get up off the ground and buy those issues of Newtype USA if they really wanted them that badly, the time we found out that a school in town ran a black market Pocky operation out of one of their bathrooms, being one of the only people to exploit their employee discount on purchasing both Vol. 1 THE FUCCONS and the ARMORED TROOPER VOTOMS Ammo Tin Set in the same week, and drumming on people with my KAMEN RIDER HIBIKI henshin belt as a punishment for bombing the Anime Day trivia contest.

Oh, and that one time when I shooed some kids out of the adult section and yelled “IT’S NOT ALL THAT GREAT ANYWAYS!” as they left the store.

Anonymous asked: Why are you so angry about JLaw's nudes being leaked? I thought you didn't like her.

  • i am angry because this is just another example of women being shamed for taking nudes instead of the douchebag who spreads them being shamed for violating someone’s privacy like that
  • i am angry because nobody deserves this, regardless of how i feel about their personality
  • i am angry because this is pure misogyny and shows how women aren’t respected in our culture
  • i am angry because she did not consent to having those pics posted everywhere but they still were
  • i am angry because on the VERY RARE occasion this happens to a male celeb he is not shamed but rather the perpetrator is and it’s forgotten quickly whereas this will haunt jennifer for years and years to come
  • i am angry because this was a sex crime and people are treating it like a joke
  • i am angry because she is being exploited/objectified and some gross dudebros are probably jacking off to those pics
  • i am angry because people are CONGRATULATING the fucker who did such an atrocious thing to her instead of being appalled

listen i may not like her personally but the fact remains that as a human being she is entitled to body autonomy and to choose who sees her naked body and who doesn’t
